On November 30th we had an exceptional opportunity to listen to three great speakers – Ilter Ibrahimof from Fall for Dance North, Nicole Rochefort from AIM (Artists In Motion) Booking Agency and Michael Vincent from Musical Toronto.
We had a long and very productive discussion on various topics related to the profession of artist manager. Nicole Rochefort owns and runs her own booking agency where she works with bands and performers. Ilter is the Director at his own agency and the Artistic Director at now widely-known Fall for Dance North Festival here in Toronto. Michael is the Editor-in-Chief and Publisher at Musical Toronto, Canada’s leading classical music magazine.
This was the first time for some of us to hear from a booking agent or editor and we had a lot of questions to ask. Two of the panelists were running their own business so we had a chance to learn how it is to be running an art presenting business/agency and the advantages it provides and many hidden pitfalls we have to be aware of. It was a great pleasure to talk to such interesting industry professionals and to witness the chemistry and shared experiences among them.
